Characterization of sugarcane bagasse ash (SBA) and its evaluation for use in alkali-activated slag mixtures

This work proposed to incorporate the sugarcane bagasse ash (SBA) with a high content of organic matter (loss on ignition 35.87%) in alkali-activated mixtures blast furnace slag. After grinding SBA, replacement ratios 10%, 20%, and 30% ground were used for flowability evaluation. The containing 20% showed dry consistency, then only mixture 10% slag was other tests. use an air-entraining admixture led improvement mixtures. X-ray diffraction results that both SBA did not interfere mineralogical composition hydrated products. However, decrease compressive strength about 28%. In conclusion, proved be viable considering its effect mechanical performance.
